TREK OVERVIEW & QUICK FACTS
About VIJAY TOP TREK
Vijay Top (3,800m) is one of the most magnificent yet peaceful winter treks in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary of Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand. Often compared to its renowned neighbor Kedarkantha, Vijay Top possesses the exact same cosmic mountain panoramas while taking you deeper into undisturbed alpine meadows and dense snow-shrouded forests, away from the hustle and bustle of commercial trekking crowds.
The journey begins with a picturesque drive from Dehradun through Mussoorie, Kempty Falls, and the pine forests of Jarmola, following the course of the holy Yamuna and Tons rivers to our tranquil base camp at Khanyasni (1,878m). The trail gradually ascents along the Rupin river, guiding you through the traditional Himalayan village of Bhitri (Bitri), where ancient wooden houses feature intricately carved designer temples and villagers cultivate red rice and wheat amidst flourishing apple orchards.
As you climb higher through dense pine, oak, and rhododendron forests, expansive green meadows open up at Sarutal (2,000m) and Badang (2,600m). A high ridge divides the Rupin and Supin valleys, treating trekkers to dramatic vistas of Himachal peaks and the distinctive four-peaked Swargarohini massif. In winter, these sweeping alpine clearings transform into a pristine white wonderland carpeted in deep powder snow.
The summit push from Badang camp is a thrilling, moderate ascent across snowy ridge lines to reach the apex of Vijay Top (3,800m). Standing on the summit rewards you with an astonishing 360-degree amphitheater of towering Himalayan giants—including clear views of Kedarkantha across the valley, Bandarpunch, Black Peak, Swargarohini I, II, and III, the Baraadsar Range, Phulara Ridge, and the winding Rupin and Supin valleys below.
Whether experiencing its vibrant green meadows in summer or traversing its silent, deep-powder snow ridges in winter, Vijay Top offers an authentic, crowd-free Himalayan adventure suitable for both enthusiastic beginners and seasoned winter trekkers.
