About GULABI KANTHA TREK

Gulabi Kantha (3,850m) is a hidden jewel of the Yamunotri valley, offering virgin alpine meadows, dense untamed forests, and panoramic mountain views away from the crowded tourist trails. Meaning the 'Pink Throat' due to the vibrant pink rhododendron blossoms that cover its slopes in spring, this trek is a sanctuary of peace and untouched natural beauty.

The journey begins from the tranquil village of Hanuman Chatti, winding up through secluded trails alongside crystal-clear mountain streams. Unlike commercialized trekking routes, Gulabi Kantha immerses trekkers in raw nature where wild birdsong and rustling pine leaves are the only sounds breaking the silence.

As the trail ascends past shepherd encampments into high-altitude bugyals, the landscape opens up into vast undulating green carpets. In winter, these expansive meadows transform into endless undulating snowfields that sparkle under the brilliant Himalayan sun.

The ridge walk to the summit of Gulabi Kantha provides an exhilarating feeling of walking on the roof of the valley. Trekkers are treated to an unbroken 360-degree spectacle featuring the Kalindi Khal range, Bandar Punch, Shrikhand Mahadev, and the Black Peak massif.

Watching the sunset from the top of Gulabi Kantha, as the snowy peaks turn from gold to deep crimson, is a deeply soul-stirring experience. It is the perfect trek for explorers seeking wilderness solitude and authentic Himalayan charm.

Your 5-day untouched wilderness expedition to Gulabi Kantha begins at 6:00 AM from Dehradun, where you will be greeted outside the railway station by your TrekOnClimb leader. Boarding our reserved vehicles, we embark on a scenic 180 km drive winding along the Yamuna River valley up to our base village at Hanuman Chatti (7,870 ft). The drive navigates hill roads passing Mussoorie and Kempti Falls before tracing the Yamuna river gorge through towns like Damta, Naugaon, and Barkot. We pause midway at a clean highway restaurant for lunch. Notice the changing flora from subtropical pine to dense deodar trees as we gain elevation into western Garhwal.
