About DEVKYARA TREK

Devkyara Trek (4,100m) is an ecstatic, untouched alpine meadow lying at the confluence of the twin Rupin and Supin valleys, running parallel to the famous Har Ki Dun valley in the Govind Wildlife Sanctuary of Uttarkashi district, Uttarakhand. Crowned as one of the most remarkable trekking discoveries of recent years, Devkyara offers an uncrowded sanctuary featuring sprawling bugyals (high-altitude meadows), dense pine forests, and dramatic panoramas of Himalayan giants.

The adventure begins with a scenic mountain drive from Dehradun through Mussoorie, Damta, Purola, and Netwar along the Yamuna and Tons rivers to our peaceful base camp at Sankri (1,920m). From Sankri, a short drive via Jakhol leads to the roadhead at Baincha Thach, where the trekking trail initiates into the enchanting Obra Gad valley. Walking along the gushing Obra River, you pass through primitive Garhwali wooden hamlets, ancient temples, and flourishing terrace fields.

Steeping deeply in ancient Indian mythology, Devkyara and the Obra valley are revered by local villagers as the sacred origin place of Lord Someshwar (Lord Shiva). Each year, villagers carry a pilgrimage from Jakhol to the wooden Obra Temple located along the valley floor. As you gain elevation beyond Obra Gad (2,500m) and Bhawa (3,500m), dense pine and oak forests give way to wide, open high-altitude ridges.

Arriving at Devkyara Camp (4,100m) reveals an awe-inspiring 4 km long grassy amphitheater surrounded by unclimbed 6,000m summits. From this grand alpine clearing, trekkers are treated to breathtaking, unobstructed views of Rangnala Peak (6,100m), Daowdu (5,500m), Bandarpoonch, and Kalanag (Black Peak). Whether witnessing its vibrant carpet of wildflowers in summer or its crisp, tranquil isolation in autumn, Devkyara is a bona fide paradise for solitude seekers looking to experience pristine Himalayan beauty away from commercial crowds.
