TREK OVERVIEW & QUICK FACTS
About DAYARA BUGYAL TREK
Dayara Bugyal (3,600m) is widely celebrated as one of the most breathtaking high-altitude alpine meadows (bugyals) in the entire Himalayan range. Spanning over 28 square kilometers of undulating green pastures that turn into glistening white ski slopes in winter, this trek offers a sensory feast of panoramic mountain vistas and pastoral tranquility.
The trek begins from the traditional village of Raithal near Uttarkashi, gently ascending through pristine forests of oak, maple, and rhododendron. The trail is well-defined and immensely rewarding, punctuated by charming forest clearing campsites like Gui and Barnala Tal.
As you step out of the treeline onto the vast expanse of Dayara Bugyal, the horizon suddenly explodes with towering Himalayan giants. Trekkers are treated to majestic, uninterrupted views of Bhagirathi I, II, III, Bandarpunch, Black Peak, and the jagged Draupadi Ka Danda massif.
Exploring the sprawling meadows leads to Bakaria Top (3,600m), the highest vantage point on the bugyal. In summer and autumn, the meadows are ablaze with vibrant wildflowers and grazing wild horses, while winter clothes the landscape in a deep blanket of snow perfect for winter camping.
Combining gentle walkability with world-class mountain scenery, Dayara Bugyal is the quintessential trek for families, beginners, and seasoned nature lovers seeking pure alpine magic.
