TREK OVERVIEW & QUICK FACTS
About BRAHMATAL TREK
Brahmatal (3,850m) is a premier winter trekking masterpiece designed for those who seek unhindered, front-row views of Himalayan giants alongside frozen alpine lakes. Dedicated to Lord Brahma, who is believed to have meditated by its tranquil waters, this trek combines mythological richness with jaw-dropping visual drama.
Starting from the base camp at Lohajung, the trail snakes up through centuries-old oak and rhododendron forests. As winter descends, the canopy turns into a frosted cathedral, leading trekkers to hidden forest clearings and the frozen expanse of Bekaltal lake, surrounded by dense canopy.
Emerging from the forest line onto the open ridges above Brahmatal brings an immediate gasp of awe. Suddenly, the colossal snow-covered faces of Mt. Trishul (7,120m) and Mt. Nanda Ghunti (6,309m) rise right in front of you, appearing so close you feel you could reach out and touch them.
The walk up to Brahmatal Top along the undulating snowy ridge is exhilarating. The wind whistles across the open bugyals as trekkers navigate snowdrifts and icy patches, enjoying continuous panoramic views of the entire Garhwal and Kumaon mountain ranges.
Standing on the summit ridge with the frozen turquoise lake below and towering 7000-meter peaks dominating the sky is an unforgettable experience. Brahmatal stands as the ultimate winter alternative for photographers and nature lovers seeking pure alpine magic.
